Busbar trunking systems, with their advantages of large power supply capacity, safety, reliability, and ease of installation, were introduced to China in the 1980s. With the rapid development of China's construction industry, they have seen swift growth. In just over a decade, the number of manufacturers grew to over a thousand, almost covering all major and medium-sized cities in China. Their manufacturing processes, structures, and material technologies have continuously innovated, leading to improvements in product performance and reliability. They have become an important component of power distribution equipment and the main power transmission lines for building electricity, widely used in high-rise buildings, large shopping malls, industrial and mining enterprises, rail transit, data centers, docks, and venues. What types of busbar trunking systems are there? Let's take a look.
Busbar trunking, due to its advantages of large power supply capacity, safety and reliability, and convenient installation, hasbeen introduced to China since the 1980s and has rapidly developed with the rapid development of China's construction projects. In just over a decade, the number of manufacturers has grown to over a thousand, almost covering all major and medium-sized cities in China. Its process structure and material technology are constantly innovating, and product performance and reliability are constantly improving. It has become an important part of power distribution equipment and the power transmission line for building power supply, widely used in high-rise buildings, large shopping malls, industrial and mining enterprises, rail transit, data centers, docks and venues, etc.
What are the types of busbar trunking? Let's introduce them below.
1. High-density busbar trunking. It has a "sandwich" structure. After the conductors are wrapped with insulating materials, several conductive busbars are stacked without gaps, completely close to the shell, and insulated with insulating materials in between. Its features are large current carrying capacity, faster heat dissipation, lighter weight, small size, space saving, and currently has a large market demand, and is also a commonly used busbar trunking.

2. Double air busbar trunking. Its structure is that there is a certain distance between the conductor phase and the shell, and air insulation and double insulation can be achieved using insulating materials. The air-type busbar trunking is a primitive structure, although it has a double insulation effect, but in today's highly developed insulating materials, due to poor heat dissipation, low current carrying capacity, and large size, it has been basically eliminated, and is currently only suitable for occasions below 400A.
3. High-strength enclosed busbar trunking. After the phase conductors are wrapped with insulating materials, they are clamped and fixed by a shell pressed into a prismatic shape, and insulated through the air gap between the phase and the shell. During installation, the insulating material wrapping the phase conductor is easily damaged, causing insulation breakdown and short circuit with the shell, and is gradually prohibited from use.
4. Epoxy resin cast busbar trunking. Its process structure is introduced from volcanic ash casting and fixing busbar trunking. After entering China, the raw material volcanic ash is difficult to find, and the cost of purchasing from outside is too high, so it is changed to epoxy resin casting. In the production process of this structure of busbar trunking, it is necessary to ensure certain conditions such as casting temperature and pressure. However, actual production and installation cannot guarantee production conditions, and epoxy resin will burn at a certain temperature and will also help combustion at higher temperatures. It is used in special occasions, such as factories, shipyards, outdoors, etc., where the environment is harsh. It has a high protection level, but poor heat dissipation. It needs on-site casting during installation. Compared with traditional cables, it fully demonstrates its superiority in high-current transmission. At the same time, due to the adoption of new technologies and processes, the contact resistance and temperature rise at the two-end connection and branch line splicing parts are greatly reduced, and it uses insulating materials, which improves the safety and reliability of the busbar trunking and makes the whole system more perfect.
